Why sectioning your hair is important

I always section my hair in four parts, whether it be for detangling, washing, styling or whatever. When I was fully rexlaxed, I was able to get away with washing in 2 sections. I thought since my hair has been so compliant, it would be ok to try to cut corners in my regimen. Boy, did I get a wakeup call! I shampooed my hair with a sulfate free shampoo in 2 large sections. Also I made sure to be as thorough as it was all said and done, my hair looked and felt clean. I thought: “Hey...

Salvaging a Bad Flat Ironing Session

This week I decided to try a new flat ironing cream from L’oreals new smooth intense line. I was left with VERY unexpected result : greasy ends and puffy roots. It looked as if I haven’t washed my hair in ages, even though I had just washed my hair! This is really upsetting, given the fact I had spent so much time trying to straighten my hair in the first place! I was ready to re wash my hair and just deal with my crazy transitioning hair! Instead, I decided to work with what I had and revive this...

Smooth Rollersetting on Natural / Transitioning hair

Magnetic Rollers are tricky to get the hang of! Even though they are called “magnetic” its hard to get the hair to grip on the roller. After many attempts I was able to to figure out how to keep them on my head. Even so, they were loose and my hair would frizz out of them! By the time they were dried I would have silky smooth ends with plenty of Africa at the roots. NOT the look I’m going for! After honing in my techniques using mesh rollers, I decided to apply the idea to using magnetic rollers....

Getting a Straighter Blowout on Natural / Transitioning Hair

Getting the hang of blow drying my hair took me quite some time. Sometimes it would be too poofy and very tangled around the ends. Not to mention, the end result would be as dry and crispy as a bowl of Shredded Wheat. After honing in my techniques, I find that this particular method works well for me when I want to blowdry in preparation for a flat iron. My hair ends up superbly straight compared to other methods and is much easier to flat iron. To start off, I use a hatchet blowdryer with a brush attachment. I...

Relaxer Regret

Many people ask the question: Do you regret relaxing your hair? My short answer is: “No”. My long answer is: “No, not #8221; You may wonder how can that be true since I am once again transitioning back to “natural” hair. That can easily be explained, but first you might need to get familiar with the reasons on why I relaxed in the first place. I liked my natural curls but i found that most styles heat free style did not have any longevity. I could do a set of twists and by day 3 they would look a...

Ever since the Crea Clip came on the scene I have been secretly lusting for one. The idea looks so awesome and the videos on youtube made it look really simple and easy to use. Everything was great……until I looked at the price. All I could think was…. I tried for months to find a cheaper alternative to no avail. That is, until this black friday…… I was doing my usual perusing for deals and came across a website called It had advertised this “hair cutting tool” for only + free shipping on sale. Keratin Wishlist

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are soon to be here and I have accumulated a large keratin product list of interest. I do have a budget so i have to figure out what will stay and what will go based on pricing and ingredients. I find that many of the time people do not list the ingredients to these products so i have to find them myself. If I am not able to review them at the very least I would like to provide and ingredient list so that anyone who decided to try it out in the future...
