I did the big Chop!

After being frustrated with transitioning for so long I decided to just go ahead and cut the relaxed ends off. I wanted to wear my hair straight during the summer but I just do not have the patience to mess with heat tools . it seems so futile to straighten my hair while sweating it out at the same time. While I’m sure there is a product out there that can prevent this, I really just wanted an excuse to finally go natural. I chopped my hair off using what I called the coil method. I pretty much made...

Inspiration Sensation: Tall n Curly

The Tall n Curly blog has recently caught my attention and plenty of others as well. If you haven’t seen it yet is a cute silly and quirky hair blog about curly hair. Instead of your regular “10 tips to grow long curly hair” or “how to scrunch you curls tutorial” kind of blog, Cheyan uses a cartoons to relay a satirical viewpoint on dealing with curly hair. She has a good sense of humor and really captures the essence of #curlyhairprobelms. Here is one of my favorite cartoons: In addition, Cheyan is a really talented illustrator and has...

Embelleze Novex Argan Oil Line

Over the last year or so I have been using several of the deep conditioners from the Novex hair care line. I gave a review of one of their deep conditioners on my blog before and I have a few more reviews that I plan on doing in the future. Since I gushed on how much I liked their products, the company actually sent me some more products to review! I was over the moon! They sent to me a majority of the products from their most popular Argan Oil line. I have to say that I was really...

Hair Aniversary, mini chop and my skirmish with heat damage

Actually Its my belated transition anniversary! I am currently almost 14 months post and I took these when I was 12! I forgot about it and then I just never got around to posting it. I have been struggling to keep my relaxed ends and I had just given up on the idea that I was going to be a transitioning unicorn and retain all of my length. Out of laziness, I kept wearing my hair in a wet bun. This led to matting and tangles mainly in the center of my hair. It became so bad that I...

Regular consumers buying salon products

Should professional hair products only be used by professionals? It seems like such a silly question at first glance it almost immediately invokes a “uhhhh DUHHHH” response! Why shouldn’t a professional be entitled to products only for them?! The reality is that many regular women use professional products with no qualifications at all (my self included!). Why is it that regular people want to have access to products that are only reserved for stylists? Why is it that regular people just cant bring their big lazy butts down to a salon where they can get it done RIGHT? It...

What is a brazillian keratin treatment?

Many people today have heard of the ever popular Brazilian Blowout or more generally called Brazilian keratin treatment. These systems use heat to create polymers that coat the hair and change its shape temporarily. the end result is a high gloss bone straight look and when washed the curls are shinier, looser and more behaved than before. The process: Hair is washed with a clarifying shampoo several times to strip the hair and open the cuticles. this is done to allow the best penetration of the keratin treatment. After hair has been washed it is then dried and then...

My Rollersetting Regimen

To avoid using direct heat back to back I like to rollerset as a low heat option. I am able to get a straight look without using heat on the delicate ends on my hair. In addition I prefer the bounce and body I get with a rollerset compared to blowdrying and flat ironing. So far, in my transition they have really been helping me stay away from the blowdryer and flat iron while staying fly! Here is the method that has been working for me. Step 1: Section and Remove shed hair First I section my hair into...

Neutrlab Cocoa Curls and Pop n Curls

At the beginning of my transition back to natural, I was interested in trying out different products for the times when I do not wear my hair straightened. I was doing my routine window shopping at the beauty supply store and I saw these cute brightly colored products. I had never seen them before but before buying I decided to look on the internet about them. I found pretty much nothing and on top of that, the official website was defunct.(it sadly still is) So I decided to just try them out for myself! Neutrlab is a relatively new...
