Rollersetting with Hourglass/ Conici Rollers

Conical Rollers
After some time working with Conici rollers I finally figured out how to use them to attain the best results on naturally textured hair. It took a few bad hair days but I got it eventually!
The first time I used them I decided to work with pins since I assumed they give me more tension and smoother results. The pins I had were not the pins from the Capelli Care website so I am not sure if their pins were longer. The pins I used were the standard plastic 3 inch pins. The holes in the rollers do not fit as snugly with the pins as my red mesh rollers did. They also slipped a lot or popped off white I was rolling other sections. It was infuriatingly annoying.
After sitting under the dryer these are my results. The rollers were a bit bigger than i was used to so it took me a white to roll then quickly without rollers falling out. After some practice I was able to get the hang of it. I also liked how they dried quicker than magnetics. Unfortunately, I ended up with smooth ends and thick puffy roots because I could not get the rollers to stay taut.
Since I wanted a heat free rollerset, I tried to separate the curls as usual but all I got was a hot mess. There was just too much kink at the roots.
After failing twice using the pins, I decided to take my own advice from setting on magnetic rollers. This time around I used purple snap on caps on my rollers and they fit easily with my largest mesh rollers. The caps help the natural hair to be held tautly at the root and from frizzying off the roller.
After unrolling, my hair came out WAY better. The ends were smooth and the roots were pretty darn straight.
Here are the final results no heat needed. my hair was very bouncy and full. I did notice my hair looked to have a bit more texture than when I used magnetics but I actually like the effect because it made my hair look more thick.

Overall I really like these rollers. I can set them overnight and get great rollersets. I got so fast rolling these kind of rollers, I can do a traditional mohawk in 30 minutes. they are much MUCH easier that rolling with magnetics! If you are natural and like to rollerset, then I would highly recommend these kind of rollers!
