Aphogee Curlific Curl Definer
Everyone I’d like you to meet my new boo! Aphogee has come out with a new haircare line called “Curlific” and as far as I can tell its the bee’s knees. I have been using the Curl Definer since it came out and i think I have found my Holy Grail styler! The product itself has a thick creamy consistency and comes in a bright yellow tube. The packaging is actually what drew me to the product because I thought it was cute and fun. It has a light inoffensive soapy scent and works well with other products. In...
Rollerset attempt on short natural hair
It has been a while since I have rollerset my hair. I love rollerset curls but ever since I did the big chop, I have been more into rocking my natural curls. I decided on a whim to see if i can still roll up my hair and get a smooth result. As it turns out getting my hair on the rollers was easy as apple pie. I used a creamy leave in conditioner and that was enough to get my strands to lay flat on my red mesh rollers. The hard part was waiting for it to dry...
Puritan Pride Hair Thickener and Conditioner
Since I have very fine hair, I was looking for a way to help bulk up my hair and give it a fuller look. I stumbled across this hair product because it was cheap and the reviews deemed it very effective. I was so excited about it, I went ahead and purchased a few bottles! The packaging is very straightforward and plain. There is definitely no frills about it! This is not a real issue but I wouldn’t want these bottles to be on my vanity display. LOL I do like how small the bottles are though. They are...
Straightening and Length Check
I decided in the middle of a heat wave it would be the perfect time to straighten my hair! I was so anxious to see my hair straight that I ignored all of my gut instincts and went ahead and straightened the whole thing! As it turns out I’m Shoulder Length! Yay! Not to shabby for just a little over a years worth of growth. I shampooed, conditioned, blowdried and flat ironed my hair. I used a mix of Arosci and Kismera products.(reviews coming soon) My hair as straight but it still started to poof up(mainly at the roots) because...
Curl settling after BC with Ultrasonic Iron
I thought it was interesting just to see how much my hair has transformed within a few days of my big chop. As you can see it took a few days for my curl pattern to kind of sort itself out. The ultrasonic treatment really helped to hasten the process and it also helped with reducing frizz which is great. It is a little time consuming but it doesn’t take much longer than a regular DC with heat. I love how strong my hair feels and I barely have any breakage since I ditched the relaxed ends. I am...
I did the big Chop!
After being frustrated with transitioning for so long I decided to just go ahead and cut the relaxed ends off. I wanted to wear my hair straight during the summer but I just do not have the patience to mess with heat tools . it seems so futile to straighten my hair while sweating it out at the same time. While I’m sure there is a product out there that can prevent this, I really just wanted an excuse to finally go natural. I chopped my hair off using what I called the coil method. I pretty much made...
Neutrlab Cocoa Curls and Pop n Curls
At the beginning of my transition back to natural, I was interested in trying out different products for the times when I do not wear my hair straightened. I was doing my routine window shopping at the beauty supply store and I saw these cute brightly colored products. I had never seen them before but before buying I decided to look on the internet about them. I found pretty much nothing and on top of that, the official website was defunct.(it sadly still is) So I decided to just try them out for myself! Neutrlab is a relatively new...
Smooth Rollersetting on Natural / Transitioning hair
Magnetic Rollers are tricky to get the hang of! Even though they are called “magnetic” its hard to get the hair to grip on the roller. After many attempts I was able to to figure out how to keep them on my head. Even so, they were loose and my hair would frizz out of them! By the time they were dried I would have silky smooth ends with plenty of Africa at the roots. NOT the look I’m going for! After honing in my techniques using mesh rollers, I decided to apply the idea to using magnetic rollers....
Getting a Straighter Blowout on Natural / Transitioning Hair
Getting the hang of blow drying my hair took me quite some time. Sometimes it would be too poofy and very tangled around the ends. Not to mention, the end result would be as dry and crispy as a bowl of Shredded Wheat. After honing in my techniques, I find that this particular method works well for me when I want to blowdry in preparation for a flat iron. My hair ends up superbly straight compared to other methods and is much easier to flat iron. To start off, I use a hatchet blowdryer with a brush attachment. I...
