Rollersetting with Hourglass/ Conici Rollers

After some time working with Conici rollers I finally figured out how to use them to attain the best results on naturally textured hair. It took a few bad hair days but I got it eventually! The first time I used them I decided to work with pins since I assumed they give me more tension and smoother results. The pins I had were not the pins from the Capelli Care website so I am not sure if their pins were longer. The pins I used were the standard plastic 3 inch pins. The holes in the rollers do...

An upclose look at Conici/ hourglass rollers

I have been searching for a large plastic mesh roller for years! Up until recently they were not available in the United States. As soon as they became avaliable I made sure to snatch up a few sets for myself! Lets take a look on the differences between these conical rollers and my old red mesh rollers. I purchased these rollers from Capelli Care, a new website that sells both hourglass and halo (straight) rollers. The packaging was neat and it shipped very fast! They also regularly have sales which makes purchasing them so much better. I purchased the...

Rollerset attempt on short natural hair

It has been a while since I have rollerset my hair. I love rollerset curls but ever since I did the big chop, I have been more into rocking my natural curls. I decided on a whim to see if i can still roll up my hair and get a smooth result. As it turns out getting my hair on the rollers was easy as apple pie. I used a creamy leave in conditioner and that was enough to get my strands to lay flat on my red mesh rollers. The hard part was waiting for it to dry...

Pre sectioning rollers for a faster set

If you are struggling with how long your rollersets are taking or having difficulty parting the hair after washing, then pre-sectioning my be for you! Ever since learning this little tip, rollersets are much more easy to do! Start off on dry hair by sectioning the “mohoawk” parting in the middle of your hair. then section this into 2 parts. Then take each side and section them off. For more ease after washing, I would suggest to section each side into two as well. Then wash your hair in the sections you have created. It also helps if you...

Alfaparf Semi Di Lino Dimante Essential Oil

Alfaparf is an Italian line and pretty much considered the “Rolls Royce” of hair care. I wanted to try some more salon and luxury products so I decided to try using one of Alfaparf’s well touted leave in vials. I just had to test for myself if the products were worth the hype! The essential oil comes in a small glass vial and one is enough for a whole head. It is a deep blue liquid and has a very strong perfume scent. Even though it is called “essential oil”, it is not oily at all but has more...

Embelleze Novex Argan Oil Line

Over the last year or so I have been using several of the deep conditioners from the Novex hair care line. I gave a review of one of their deep conditioners on my blog before and I have a few more reviews that I plan on doing in the future. Since I gushed on how much I liked their products, the company actually sent me some more products to review! I was over the moon! They sent to me a majority of the products from their most popular Argan Oil line. I have to say that I was really...

Smooth Rollersetting on Natural / Transitioning hair

Magnetic Rollers are tricky to get the hang of! Even though they are called “magnetic” its hard to get the hair to grip on the roller. After many attempts I was able to to figure out how to keep them on my head. Even so, they were loose and my hair would frizz out of them! By the time they were dried I would have silky smooth ends with plenty of Africa at the roots. NOT the look I’m going for! After honing in my techniques using mesh rollers, I decided to apply the idea to using magnetic rollers....
