Adventures with my new diffuser!

Since I am in a winter wash n go challenge I began looking for ways to dry my hair faster so I wont get sick from wet hair during the winter. My soft bonnet was not cuttin’ it. It was giving me weird, smushed wash n goes that looked like they belonged in a horror movie. So I decided to spend my coins on a cheap diffuser from the beauty supply store. The brand of diffuser I bought is Diane, it was only about 6 dollars or so. Its not fancy but I figured it would get the job...

5 tools to get straighter flat iron results

One of the most basic techniques to get straighter hair when flat ironing is to chase your flat iron with a fine comb. Doing this separates the hair and yields a straighter result. There are a few tools on the market that build upon this idea and can help get the hair straighter, when a fine toothed comb just isn’t enough. Soft Boar Bristle Brush This isn’t marketed specifically as a straightening tool but I found it to be very effective at doing so. Because the brush allows more smoothing and tension on a section of hair the end...

Cricket Silkomb … My new seamless comb!

In the past few years I didn’t want to fall into the hype of getting a seamless comb. It seemed so pointless! A comb is a comb is a comb! Seamless was just another hyper word in the hair care industry like “argan oil” or “nano technology”. However, since I got the silkomb, this little birdies tune has changed! It is a reasonable price for a seamless comb at about 8 dollars. Many seamless combs are made of a heavy carbon or silicone polymer. Bone combs are the most expensive and most likely are made up of unicorn horn...

I need a new dryer!

I have had my beloved Select Pro Gold soft bonnet dryer for a little over a year. I use it pretty frequently about once a week and at times even more. I purchased this dryer because it was supposedly the best soft bonnet dryer on the market. So it was really disappointing to see if not last the test of time! We have been through good and bad but my little dryer has finally gotten on its last legs. The first thing to come off was the attachment where the hose connected to the hood. This was not too...

My new ultrasonic infrared iron!

A few weeks ago I received my infrared ultrasonic iron in the mail. I ordered directly from the manufacturer and because of this I was able to buy one at a fraction of the regular price. Since it was a sample order (the manufacturer usually ships in bulk) it is plain and has the generic “ultra and infra” on the LCD screen. Otherwise, it still has all of the functions that the brand name ones do plus it has adjustable settings! If you don’t know about this iron, check out my previous post about Ultrasonic Infrared Irons. So far...

Knock off Crea Clip

Ever since the Crea Clip came on the scene I have been secretly lusting for one. The idea looks so awesome and the videos on youtube made it look really simple and easy to use. Everything was great……until I looked at the price. All I could think was…. I tried for months to find a cheaper alternative to no avail. That is, until this black friday…… I was doing my usual perusing for deals and came across a website called It had advertised this “hair cutting tool” for only + free shipping on sale. I thought “what...

Ultrasonic Infrared irons….ingenious or gimmick?

While doing some research I came across this new hair care technology. Manufacturers have combined the power of ultrasonic frequencies with infrared light. This creates a new product that is heatless yet deeply conditions the hair better than anything before. The ultrasonic vibrations coupled with the infrared light causes water molecules to speed up and vaporize. This allows whatever is in a conditioning or keratin treatment to effectively get into the hair shaft. Here is a list of qualities these irons seem to have in common: Do not straighten Repair hair for shinier, smoother, and thicker results Helps the...

Maxius SONICglide: The sucessor to the Maxiglide

The original Maxiglide has been a favorite flat iron among curly and naturals girls all over the world. The Iron was the first to combine ,steam technology along with a detangling pin flat to deliver “1 step” straightening. The end results were healthy straight hair that was infused with moisture. Now Maxius has decided to upgrade the technology and has released a new iron the “Sonicglide”. It is similar to the newer versions of the maxiglide but it comes with a new sonic feature. There is very little on the web about this iron, so I decided to contact...
